I believe it is the duty of each of us to act as if the fate of the world depended on him. Admittedly, one man by himself cannot do the job. However, one man can make a difference…. We must live for the future of the human race, and not for our own comfort or success. – Hyman G. Rickover

I’ve been slacking lately… I haven’t been posting a quote and a photo every day. Not because I have stopped enjoying sifting through the great words of others or because I haven’t been taking pictures, I’ve been taking lots! But, because I’ve been getting busier in my daily life. Amazingly, I’ve been going faster and faster and faster still. That’s just how the cookie crumbles. I plan to return to a better posting cycle shortly.
Would you rather just see one quote or photo post a day? Would you rather see them combined?
Something in human nature causes us to start slacking off at our moment of greatest accomplishment. As you become successful, you will need a great deal of self-discipline not to lose your sense of balance, humility, and commitment. – Ross Perot
I’ve said it before, I love words. Words, when chosen carefully can truly describe what you’re looking for, can move you, can drive others, or can help you get through any situation, with the right words.
Words are one of our chief means of adjusting to all the situations of life. The better control we have of our words, the more successful our adjustment will be. – Bergen Evans
Today’s quote, by Agnes de Mille, is really a simple statement on what we already know to be true. Sometimes we’re too focused on living our life “the right way” instead of living it. Just something to think about.
Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what next or how. The moment you know how, you begin to die a little. The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark. – Agnes de Mille
I love this quote, it really personalizes living in the moment, living day by day. You have to take life one day at a time. It’s worth it.
I live a day at a time. Each day I look for a kernel of excitement. In the morning I say: What is my exciting thing for today? Then, I do the day. Don’t ask me about tomorrow. – Barbara Jordan
I’ve always been interested in the words of Jean-Paul Sartre, there’s something about this snippets of his best that draws me back. This one just makes me giggle. Sometimes, I truly believe that Hell is being around other people.
So that is what hell is. I would never have believed it. You remember: the fire and brimstone, the torture. Ah! the farce. There is no need for torture: Hell is other people. – Jean-Paul Sartre
This is my 600th quote/photo of the day post. Who would have thought that this would have proven to be a fun as it has been. Things I’ve learned? I’ve become a little bit better photographer, no longer do I “luck into” as many photos, I actually see them as they should be. It’s been fun. It continues to be fun. That’s why I do it.
Every achiever I have ever met says, My life turned around when I began to believe in me. – Robert H. Schuller
